En route to DC where BPI summer interns are presenting their original research. I supervised a qualitative study of Gen Z bitcoin perception by @theavanunez. Interesting work! Will write a thread on what we found.

Euphoria is gonna be a monster. They're focusing on exactly the right thing: retail. They have this really fun thing called "tap trading," super innovative and very effing addictive. The current generation of crypto products have completely ignored the power of programatic economic mechanism design that crypto provides developers in favor of easy money ponzi games. While it may work for a while, it’s not a repeatable game. When participants no longer believe it’s a game they can win—they stop playing. While this sounds obvious, it’s in no small part perpetuated by narrative chasing VCs, very few of which have any original thoughts that aren’t simply pattern matching what has come before. We are taking a very opinionated approach at Melee. What we have built will not map to what you have been conditioned to expect. It may work, or we may have to pivot, but we’re for damn sure gunna try it because there’s not a single creator we have talked to that has not immediately resonated with this new paradigm. We will not roll over and take the EZ route. We will iterate till the game is, transparent, fair, repeatable, and fun. Simple goals often require complex execution, while the UX and design of Melee is approachable and the goals are simple, the underlying design is far more nuanced that most will understand at first glance—but when it clicks, you’ll turn around and go, “why did no one think of this before?”

The White House and SEC are proposing major updates to how we think about the integrity of market data in an onchain economy. Both the recent WH Report and SEC’s ‘Project Crypto’ call for updates to Reg NMS, the rulebook for U.S. market data, to handle tokenized securities and other RWAs. Their answer? Amend it. And, per the White House, consider using oracles, aggregators, and DeFi infrastructure to collect bids, offers, and other market data. Reg NMS ensures that traditional markets remain fair and competitive by requiring brokers to route orders to the best available price, mandating consistent data across venues, and preventing any single exchange from dominating the market. Applying this to crypto doesn’t require reinventing the wheel. It requires connecting the data that’s already out there, allowing us to extend the infrastructure and protocols already built. At @chaos_labs, we’re building infrastructure that solves for this. Not just serve as a price oracle for onchain assets, but rather for any asset, aggregating data from all relevant sources. Next-gen oracles will stitch together real-time, tradfi, onchain, and general market data across protocols, agents, exchanges and more. The Digital Assets Report is 158 pages. It mentioned oracles on 4 pages. It's a start :)
