UK FCA: Firms Will Soon Be Able to Offer Retail Investors Access to Crypto Exchange-Traded Notes
Foresight News reports that the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has opened retail channels for cryptocurrency ETNs, stating that companies will soon be able to offer retail investors access to crypto exchange-traded notes (cETNs). The crypto ETNs available to retail investors must be traded on UK investment exchanges approved by the FCA, known as Recognised Investment Exchanges (RIEs). The FCA’s ban on retail access to cryptoasset derivatives will remain in effect. The FCA will continue to monitor market developments and consider its approach to high-risk investments.
