I want to showcase an "ignored" trade from this weekend to highlight that trading is all about probabilities (and my flawed thinking in this case). I’m mainly sharing it because I think some people can learn from this. No P&L card here since I didn’t execute correctly (don’t think I make no mistakes). An alert went off and $SAND reached the MTF levels I had been watching for quite some time. I calmly analyzed the setup again to look for potential targets and journal it in my Notion beforehand. From my journal (beforehand): I classified it as a (B) setup and chose to ignore it, since I only want to take (A) setups on the MTF. However, I went to the LTF to spot weakness,and I even found it. LTF weakness: My B setups have around a 30–40% win rate, so the flaw here is that I ignored an 8–9RR setup, which only needs a 10–15% win rate. This is a "BIG" flaw in my thinking, as probabilities were telling me to take the trade. A big factor was also that I wasn’t in my office and had to trade from my laptop while on the road. However, I think I used this excuse to not execute correctly. Final TP would have been hit. No worries though—there are opportunities every day, plus this serves as a big "reminder" to myself to always keep thinking in probabilities in this game.
