What is Aurora (AURORA)?
Aurora is an Ethereum-compatible blockchain that runs on NEAR Protocol. It is designed to help scale the Ethereum ecosystem for developers by providing a high-throughput, scalable, and future-safe platform with low transaction costs. The network was launched in 2021.
How Aurora (AURORA) Works
Aurora is a high-throughput and scalable EVM built on the NEAR Protocol. Being on NEAR means that Aurora inherits the Delegated Proof-of-Stake mechanism and dynamic resharding, allowing it to deploy Ethereum-compatible apps with lower transaction costs and better speed. Aurora's EVM enables Ethereum-based applications to be easily ported to NEAR's L2-like network. Aurora's base fee is ETH, which makes it easier for users to experience dApps. Aurora also developed the Rainbow Bridge, which allows users to transfer assets between Ethereum, NEAR, and Aurora. This feature is integrated with bridges from/to other networks.
AURORA is the native governance token of the network.
