Fake Ledger App on Microsoft Store Steals Over $767,000 in Crypto
Over $767,000 worth of cryptocurrency has been stolen after unsuspecting customers downloaded a fake Ledger crypto wallet management app from the Microsoft App Store. The malicious app resulted in the theft of 16.8 Bitcoin, as well as over $180,000 in Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain. Microsoft has since removed the fake app from the store, but counterfeit or malicious apps have been an ongoing issue for the company. The rise in crypto hacks this year has seen cyber criminals targeting major crypto brands and wallets, including Ledger.
