US Senators request information on FTC's efforts to track AI-enabled scams targeting older Americans
Four US Senators have written to FTC chairperson Lina Khan to request information on the FTC's efforts to track the use of AI in scamming older Americans. The senators emphasized the need to respond effectively to AI-enabled fraud and deception. They asked the FTC to share how it is working to gather data on the use of AI in scams and ensure it is accurately reflected in its Consumer Sentinel Network database. The senators also requested a breakdown of Sentinel's data to identify the popularity and success rates of each type of scam. In addition, the US, UK, Australia, and 15 other countries have jointly released global guidelines to help protect AI models from being tampered with.
