According to the Salvadoran National Bitcoin Office (ONBTC), since its launch on December 7, the country's "Freedom Visa" program has received hundreds of inquiries and multiple applications, and is expected to be sold out before the end of the year. The program is limited to 1,000 slots per year. This project, launched in collaboration between the El Salvador government and stablecoin issuer Tether, is a procedure for obtaining residency visas and citizenship through donations. It is open to 1,000 people willing to donate one million dollars worth of Bitcoin (BTC) or Tether (USDT) to the country.
