Galaxy Digital CEO: Anticipates that the U.S. SEC will approve a spot Bitcoin ETF before January 10th
According to Cryptoslate, Galaxy Digital founder Mike Novogratz stated, "I expect the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will approve a spot Bitcoin ETF before January 10, 2024. This is the final deadline for SEC Chairman Gary Gensler before he gets stuck in litigation with Grayscale, so I think we'll see this news announced beforehand. It may then take six to eight weeks to start trading." K33 Research members also expressed their expectations for approval. In a report on December 18th, K33 senior analyst Vetle Lunde and Vice President Anders Helseth wrote that recent updates to the applicant's ETF filings suggest approval is likely within "the next three weeks". Besides this, they described the approval date as "certain". The January 10 deadline seems to originate from Bloomberg ETF analysts Eric Balchunas and James Seyffart who predicted in October that there was a 90% chance of approving a spot Bitcoin ETF before that date.
