SEC Agrees to Postpone Do Kwon Trial But Opposes Separating His Case from Terraform Case
In documents filed with the U.S. Southern District Court of New York on January 15, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) stated its agreement to the request made by Do Kwon's legal team to postpone the trial start date to no earlier than March 18. The document stated, "The SEC agrees to the reasonable request by Do Kwon for a modest adjournment so that he can participate in the trial. If the trial date is postponed, the SEC respectfully requests that the trial begin on April 15, 2024." While the SEC agrees to the request to possibly delay the trial date, it opposes separating Kwon's case from the Terraform case, stating, "Holding two trials would unnecessarily require witnesses, including the SEC's whistleblower and financially constrained retail investors, to testify twice on the same facts in different trials."
