In the past 23 years, the top ten Web3 projects raised a total of $1.78 billion in funding, a decrease of 70% compared to the previous year
The risk capital investment in the top ten Web3 projects in 2023 has significantly declined, raising only $1.78 billion. This total amount is 70% lower than the $5.87 billion raised in 2022.
Most of the major financing occurred in the second half of the year, with six out of ten largest financings taking place during this period. Bitcoin mining service provider Phoenix Group and non-custodial payment infrastructure company Ramp led with financing amounts of $370 million and $300 million respectively.
Research results show that Web3 projects attracted a total investment of $9 billion, with infrastructure projects accounting for 36.5%, centralized finance (cefi) and decentralized finance (defi) platforms accounting for 13.3% and 8.6% respectively. Decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) had the least capital investment, accounting for only 0.47% of the total amount.
