Initial claims data came in below expectations and U.S. stocks opened higher
U.S. initial jobless claims data to ease employment concerns, the Dow opened up 210 points, the S&P 500 rose 1.06%, the Nasdaq rose 1.4%. Star tech stocks were up, with TSMC (TSM.N) up 2.4%, NVIDIA (NVDA.O) up 2.5% and Meta Platforms (META.O) up 1.7%. Eli Lilly (LLY.N) is up 13% after the company raised its revenue forecast for the current fiscal year. robinhood (HOOD.O) is up 1% after the company's second-quarter revenue beat estimates. Novavax Pharmaceuticals (NVAX.O) fell 15% after the company cut its 2024 revenue forecast.
