Vitalik: Implementing universalization for light clients requires steps such as L2 configuration on-chain
a16z engineer @NoahCitron stated on X platform that Helios is becoming a multi-chain light client for Ethereum. Light clients are the foundation of Ethereum's expansion. The future with thousands of Rollups doesn't seem far away, and the closer we get to this goal, the more important Rollup interoperability becomes.
Vitalik responded by saying that this is an important step. Subsequent steps include: integrating Helios (or alternatives) into user wallets, L2 configuration going on-chain, and specifying state proof verification rules for L2 configurations. Once completed, universal L1 and L2 light client validation can be achieved.
