Analyst: Powell may avoid giving clear guidance tonight
On December 4, Federal Reserve Chairman Powell will be interviewed at the DealBook/Summit conference hosted by The New York Times at 02:45 Singapore time on Thursday.
Analysts from LHMeyer, a monetary policy and global macro research consulting firm, suggest that Powell may still be reluctant to discuss his views on the December meeting. It is unlikely that Powell would have a clear inclination towards the decision in December like Volcker (who supported a rate cut in December). The market expects the Fed to cut interest rates in December but still believes there's a high possibility it will maintain a wait-and-see attitude. Such an arrangement does not seem to bother Powell.
