The Republican representative from Florida, USA, promises to include Bitcoin in the state's financial reserves
Matthew Sigel, Director of Digital Asset Research at VanEck, revealed in an article that Byron Donalds, a Republican representative and gubernatorial candidate from Florida, pledged on Fox News to support the inclusion of Bitcoin in the state's reserves. Without being asked, Donalds voluntarily stated: "Digital assets have found a home in Miami-Dade County. We hope to continue developing on this framework. For the state's investment portfolio, I hope to be able to include Bitcoin as part of the state's financial investment portfolio." Donalds emphasized that Bitcoin has proven to be an excellent tool for storing value and wealth; including it in the state's balance sheet can help cope with possible future economic storms. He also said: "Florida will become a world financial center, not just America’s but a global financial center."
