US retail organisations urge Trump to abandon tariff policy
Ahead of Trump's announcement of tariff increases, the American Retail Leaders Association has asked the administration to change its focus. The organisation said it strongly urged Trump to double down on policies from his first term, such as the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), that would deliver growth while reducing costs, while urging Trump to abandon policies that create uncertainty for American businesses and families. Michael Hanson, who leads the organisation's public affairs, said in a statement, ‘Americans are counting on Trump to help them make life more affordable, and families want financial certainty when planning their budgets after years of rising prices.’
