New SEC Chair Paul Atkins Pledges "Reasonable and Consistent" Approach to Cryptocurrency Regulation
According to Jinse, citing The Block, the new Chair of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Paul Atkins, stated at his swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday that he will provide a clear regulatory foundation for digital assets and adopt a "reasonable, consistent, and principled" approach to regulation. This marks a significant shift in SEC's regulatory direction, in stark contrast to the stringent approach of his predecessor, Gary Gensler. Atkins emphasized: "Under the helm of the SEC, I can confidently say this is a new era." The SEC has established a cryptocurrency task force and held roundtable discussions aiming to bring greater regulatory clarity to the crypto-asset sector.
