Citi: Stablecoin Market Cap Expected to Surge to Over $2 Trillion by 2030
According to a Blockbeats report on April 25, Citi Group, the banking giant, released a new report on Thursday stating that as stablecoins become more widespread, the bank predicts that by 2030, the total market capitalization of stablecoins could increase tenfold, surging from its current near $240 billion to over $2 trillion.
In its report, Citi noted: "In our baseline prediction, the total circulation of stablecoins could reach $1.6 trillion by 2030, and in an optimistic scenario, it could reach $3.7 trillion." The report emphasized that "adoption by the financial and public sectors driven by regulatory changes could potentially trigger a historic transformation in the cryptocurrency market."
However, Citi also hedged its predictions by stating that if "adoption and integration challenges persist," the stablecoin market size might only reach $500 billion.
