Blockchain Group Increases Reserves to 1.471 BTC with New Million-Dollar Purchase

Blockchain Group, a French technology consultancy listed on Euronext Growth Paris, has announced the acquisition of 624 more bitcoins, totaling approximately €60,2 million (about $68,7 million). This is the largest purchase made by the company since the beginning of its cryptocurrency accumulation strategy.

With the new acquisition, the group, together with its subsidiary Blockchain Group Luxembourg SA, brings its total bitcoin reserves to 1.471 units. The total amount invested reaches €131,9 million, with an average cost per bitcoin estimated at €89.687, according to an official statement released on Tuesday.

“The company thus reinforces its Bitcoin accumulation strategy, while continuing to develop the operational activities of its subsidiaries,” Blockchain Group said in a note to the market.

Shortly after the announcement, the company's shares rose at the opening of trading, reaching €3,18, up from the previous close of €2,93. However, the shares fell back to €2,93 throughout the day, as data of Euronext, remaining in trading.

The strategy of accumulating bitcoin by companies in the sector continues to gain momentum, with Blockchain Group joining the growing group of companies betting on the digital asset as part of their capital structure.

Among the most notable examples is Strategy, led by Michael Saylor, which leads as the largest publicly traded institutional holder of BTC. The company recently announced the purchase of an additional 705 bitcoins, increasing its total reserve to 580.955 BTC. In addition, Strategy also revealed plans to issue 2,5 million perpetual preferred shares, called Stride, as a way to continue expanding its exposure to bitcoin.

The Blockchain Group's move reinforces the trend of institutional adoption of cryptocurrencies and points to the strategic use of bitcoin as a store of value by companies listed on the European market.
