US Initial Jobless Claims Rise to Highest Level Since October Last Year
The U.S. Department of Labor announced on Thursday that initial jobless claims for the week ending June 7 slightly rose to 248,000, marking the highest level since October of last year. This increase may be influenced by the end of the academic year and school holidays. In 2024, the number of people applying for unemployment benefits reached a relatively high level in early June.
