OpenAI releases low-cost open-weight language model
OpenAI has released two open-weight language models, named GPT-OSS-120B and GPT-OSS-20B. These two models are designed to provide developers and researchers with lower cost and easier-to-use options. OpenAI stated that extensive safety training and testing have been conducted on these two models. The so-called "open-weight" models refer to their parameters being open to the public. These models can provide higher transparency and controllability, but unlike "open-source models," the latter opens up the complete source code, allowing users to freely use and modify it.
