Ethereum Foundation Updates Scaling Progress: Mainnet Gas Limit Raised to 45 Million, Advancing Toward Greater Scalability
According to ChainCatcher, the Ethereum Foundation recently published a blog post updating the progress of "L1 scaling" initiatives, mainly including:
- Marius van der Wijden has joined Ansgar Dietrichs and Tim Beiko to jointly lead the L1 scaling direction;
- Following the Berlinterop test, the Ethereum mainnet gas limit has been raised to 45 million, laying the groundwork for future targets of 100 million gas and beyond;
- All major execution layer clients have now integrated the pre-merge historical data expiry feature, significantly reducing node disk usage.
It is reported that in June this year, the Foundation reorganized its R&D team and renamed it "Protocol," focusing on three strategic directions: L1 scaling, blob expansion, and user experience optimization, while also prioritizing security and decentralization.
