Block CFO: Bitcoin Poised to Become an Open Protocol Powering the Internet, New Mining Chip to Launch in the Second Half of the Year
According to a report by Jinse Finance, Block's Chief Financial Officer Amrita Ahuja stated on CNBC that Bitcoin has the potential to become an open protocol powering the internet, enabling funds to move efficiently at internet speed. She noted that the company has consistently invested in Bitcoin-related businesses over the years, including trading products, self-custody services, and mining initiatives, and will launch a new mining chip in the second half of this year to promote the widespread adoption of mining. Ahuja believes that Bitcoin is evolving from "digital gold" to a currency for everyday payments, with thousands of Square merchants already accepting BTC.
