Report: Latin American Developers Prefer Ethereum and Polygon Over New Chains
ChainCatcher news, according to Cointelegraph, a report by consulting firm Sherlock Communications shows that the developer community in Latin America is increasingly inclined to develop within mature blockchain ecosystems such as Ethereum and Polygon, rather than launching new base layer protocols.
The study included qualitative feedback from 85 developers in Bolivia, Mexico, Brazil, and Peru. The results show that developers in the region focus on transparency, coordination, and compliance. They prefer intuitive tools, comprehensive documentation, and proven track records, making networks like Ethereum and Polygon very suitable for them. On-chain data analysis in the report supports this trend. After analyzing 697,000 blockchain transactions related to Latin American wallets, researchers found that from June 2024 to June 2025, Ethereum accounted for more than 75% of tagged transactions in the region. Meanwhile, during the same period, Polygon accounted for 11% of total activity. Polygon's adoption rate in the region continues to rise, and by June 2025, its activity volume nearly doubled to 20%.
