We just brought the first BMW tricycle to Germany—let's see how it turned out
We are proud to have received the world’s only BMW Apecar in Munich—a BAYC-themed M235i jointly created by BMW and Yuga Labs. This marks a milestone in the German NFT sector.
ApeCar – The Unique NFT Car by BMW and Yuga Labs
Apecar is not just a car; it is a symbol of Web3 culture entering the real world. This car was created through a collaboration between BMW and the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), based on the BMW M235i xDrive Gran Coupé platform, wrapped in a golden ape-style exterior designed by BAYC artist Rida.
The exterior features a mosaic of ape silhouettes, symbolizing community identity, while the M performance upgrades ensure the car is both powerful and unique. BMW even integrated e-ink panels, making it the first car that can project your Bored Ape NFT onto the body of the vehicle.
How We Got the Apecar
Back at the end of 2024, BMW and Yuga Labs launched a special lottery for BAYC/MAYC holders. The prize was not just the car itself, but the right to purchase the only existing car of its kind. Participants paid a refundable $2,350 deposit, then drew an ape.
We were the lucky winner. After several months of customizing the Apecar to German specifications, it was finally ready—and now it officially belongs to us.

Driving Out of BMW Welt in Munich
The handover ceremony was held at BMW Welt, BMW’s iconic delivery center in Munich. The moment we drove the Apecar out of the glass showroom was unforgettable. We did our first drive live on X, allowing the community to share this moment with us in real time.
As a member of ApeClubDach, this was a significant moment—a major step forward for Web3 culture in Germany. However, one thing was missing: there was no official representative from BAYC or Yuga Labs at the handover ceremony, which raised some concerns given the importance of this project.
Why the ApeCar Matters
This delivery is about more than just us—it demonstrates how NFT culture can shape real-world products. From profile pictures to a custom BMW car, the Apecar is living proof of BAYC’s influence on mainstream brands.
BMW didn’t just embrace a brand; it embraced a community. Seeing our Ape brought to life in metal, paint, and performance tuning proves that NFTs can go far beyond the screen. This is a milestone for BAYC holders and a statement for the entire European Web3 space.
High-Tech Meets Web3
- E-ink panels: Display your ape or other designs on the exterior.
- NFT light carpet: Project your Bored Ape avatar when the car doors open.
- Custom interior: BAYC logo embroidered on the headrests.
- 1/1 ApeCar NFT: A digital twin for collectors.
- Otherside integration: The Apecar also exists in Yuga Labs’ metaverse.
And under the hood? The M235i turbocharged engine ensures the Apecar is not just for show—it’s a performance beast.
What’s Next—Our Behind-the-Scenes Story
This is just the beginning. We’ll soon release the behind-the-scenes story of bringing the Apecar home—including some unexpected obstacles with Yuga Labs along the way. Stay tuned, because this journey wasn’t as smooth as the drive itself.
For now, we can proudly say: The world’s only BMW Apecar is in Germany—and we own it.
