Ripple’s RLUSD has broadened its role as a compliant stablecoin by offering round-the-clock, immediate redemptions for institutional tokenized funds managed by
The smart contract capabilities connect traditional financial systems with blockchain, granting institutional investors on-chain access to decentralized finance (DeFi) strategies while ensuring regulatory compliance. BUIDL, which launched in March 2024, now manages over $2 billion in assets, while VBILL, introduced in May 2025, provides exposure to tokenized U.S. Treasury assets across several blockchains. RLUSD is fully collateralized 1:1 with U.S. dollar reserves and issued under a New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) Trust Company Charter, guaranteeing regulatory transparency and stability.
Jack McDonald, Ripple’s Senior Vice President of Stablecoins, stated that this integration is a “logical progression” in connecting traditional finance with crypto, stressing RLUSD’s importance in delivering “regulatory certainty, stability, and genuine utility” for institutional clients. Carlos Domingo, CEO of Securitize, called the collaboration a “significant leap forward in automating liquidity for tokenized assets,” making possible “instant settlement and programmable liquidity” for compliant investment products.
Since its introduction in late 2024, RLUSD’s market cap has surpassed $740 million, supported by independent attestations and segregated reserves. The stablecoin is already part of Ripple’s cross-border payment network and DeFi liquidity pools. BUIDL redemptions using RLUSD are now available, with VBILL support expected to launch soon.
This integration highlights the increasing use of blockchain in institutional finance, as Ripple and Securitize broaden access to tokenized assets while maintaining regulatory compliance. RLUSD’s continuous availability and instant settlement features meet the liquidity demands of institutional investors, reducing dependence on conventional banking hours. This move reflects the wider shift toward asset tokenization, where real-world assets are increasingly digitized for greater efficiency and accessibility.
By September 2025, RLUSD’s reach has grown beyond U.S. institutions, with plans for integration with the XRP Ledger (XRPL) and expansion into regions such as Japan and Dubai. The alliance with Securitize further strengthens RLUSD’s standing as a leading institutional-grade stablecoin, positioning it to support future advancements in tokenized finance and international transactions.
