Solana introduces SIMD-0337 proposal to implement rapid leader handoff mechanism and enhance network performance
Jinse Finance reported that the Solana Improvement Proposal SIMD-0337 introduces a block tagging feature, enabling a rapid leader handoff mechanism in Alpenglow. This technology allows leaders to begin block production immediately based on the expected parent block without waiting for confirmation, advancing block production time by approximately 120 milliseconds and improving IBRL (Inter-Block Reliable Latency) by about 7.5%. The new mechanism is implemented through two tags, BlockHeader and UpdateParent, which ensure security against malicious behavior while maximizing network throughput. Full technical details have been published on GitHub.
