The Origin of the Chinese Name "索拉拉" for Solana

The listing of "Binance Life" on Binance Futures has ignited a spark for "Chinese" Meme coins.

On the evening of October 20, 2025, the official Solana account retweeted a post about its Chinese name "索拉拉" (Suǒlālā), marking the official recognition of this community-initiated Chinese naming. Subsequently, the Meme coin with the same name saw a significant price surge in a short period of time. According to GMGN market data, its current market cap is reported to be around 15 million USD.

This naming process began on October 14, when the content tokenization platform Trends.fun launched a campaign to "collect Chinese names for Solana," setting up a prize pool of 100 SOL. The campaign required participants to quote and retweet the official post and submit their proposed Chinese names, with the best proposal receiving a reward of 66 SOL.

Mable, the founder of Trends.fun, stated at the launch of the campaign that someone had reminded her that Solana did not yet have an official Chinese name, and that Ethereum's Chinese name "以太坊" (Yǐtàifāng) had helped ETH spread better in Eastern markets.

On October 15, Lily Liu, Chair of the Solana Foundation, commented under a post about "索拉拉", mentioning the connection between her Chinese name "立立" (Lìlì) and "索拉拉". She explained that her parents chose the neutral character "立" (Lì), perhaps hoping she would become a builder.

On October 19, user muper announced that they had won the prize in the Solana Chinese naming campaign and promised to donate the prize to the Chinese community. He explained that the inspiration for "索拉拉" came from the Solana Foundation Chair's post, and that their team created this name representing a long-haired builder girl, symbolizing every builder striving on Solana.

On October 20, Lily Liu replied to muper's post saying "cute picture" and changed her profile picture to "索拉拉". That evening, the official Solana account quoted muper's post and captioned it "索拉拉", completing the official recognition of this Chinese name.

This series of interactions sparked market attention towards the Trends.fun Meme coin "索拉拉" of the same name.

On the morning of October 21, muper posted again, stating that the trading fee income earned on Trends.fun had exceeded 20,000 USD in just half a day. He expected this figure to soon reach 100,000 USD and promised to give back the trading income to the community.

Other Suggestions During the Naming Process

During the naming campaign, the community also proposed several different naming options. On the 16th, Solana Labs co-founder toly expressed in Chinese that he personally thought "索拉娜" (Suǒlānà) was good, "索拉拉" was cute, and "唢呐" (Suǒnà, a Chinese musical instrument) was also quite amusing.
