On Wednesday, Google revealed that accessing AI Mode on mobile devices will become more straightforward. Now, users can utilize a new shortcut button located beneath the search bar on the “New Tab” page in Chrome to enter AI Mode, which enables them to pose detailed questions and follow up for deeper exploration within Search.
This new Chrome shortcut for AI Mode is rolling out in the United States as of Wednesday, with plans to expand to 160 additional countries and support more languages soon, such as Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and others.
By simplifying mobile access to AI Mode, Google is likely aiming to encourage users to stick with its platform instead of turning to rival AI tools.

This new shortcut arrives as Google has recently made AI Mode available in 180 more countries worldwide. The company has also broadened language support, now including Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, and Brazilian Portuguese.
AI Mode was initially introduced by Google in March as a competitor to popular platforms like Perplexity AI and OpenAI’s ChatGPT Search. Since its debut, Google has continued to enhance the tool with new features.
Just yesterday, Google added new agentic features to AI Mode, enabling users to book event tickets and schedule beauty or wellness appointments directly within the tool. The first agentic functions for restaurant reservations were launched in August.
In July, AI Mode introduced the Canvas feature, which assists users in creating study plans and managing information across several sessions via a side panel. Additionally, it now supports using Google Lens to inquire about content displayed on your desktop.
