Crypto mining company Bitfury invests $12 million in decentralized AI computing network Gonka AI
Jinse Finance reported that the global leading crypto mining company Bitfury Group has recently completed a $12 million strategic investment in the decentralized AI computing network Gonka.ai, subscribing to 20 million GNK tokens at a price of $0.6 per token. Gonka.ai, founded by serial entrepreneurs the Lieberman brothers, aims to build a blockchain-based distributed GPU computing power marketplace. This investment marks Bitfury's first public investment since establishing its $1 billion Ethical AI Fund, signaling that traditional mining companies are systematically entering the decentralized AI infrastructure sector. According to previous reports, Gonka completed an $18 million financing round in 2023, with investors including OpenAI backer Coatue Management, Solana investor Slow Ventures, K5, several partners from Insight and Benchmark, among others. Early builders also include several well-known industry institutions such as 6 Block, Hard Yaka, Gcore, and Hyperfusion.
