Tajikistan classifies cryptocurrency mining with stolen electricity as a criminal offense
Show original
Jinse Finance reported that Tajikistan has passed amendments to its Criminal Code, introducing criminal penalties for the illegal use of electricity to mine virtual assets and cryptocurrencies. According to the new regulations, violators will face fines ranging from 15,000 to 75,000 somoni, or imprisonment from 2 to 8 years. Previously, cryptocurrencies in Tajikistan were neither legal nor illegal, existing in a regulatory gray area.
