Bhutan announces the launch of the world's first sovereign-backed gold token TER on Solana
BlockBeats News, December 11, Bhutanese government officials announced another milestone collaboration with Solana at the Solana Breakpoint 2025 Summit, marking a key step forward for Bhutan towards becoming a "crypto-friendly nation":
On December 17, 2025—Bhutan National Day—the world's first sovereign-backed gold token will be launched on the Solana chain. The token is named "TER," which means "treasure" in Dzongkha, the Bhutanese language.
It is reported that TER will be a 1:1 gold-backed, real-time auditable, instant-settlement SPL token, entering the on-chain world for the first time, anchored to the gold reserves of the Bhutanese treasury.
