Aptos announces AIP-137 proposal to introduce quantum-resistant signature SLH-DSA
Show original
Aptos has announced proposal AIP-137, which aims to introduce quantum-resistant signatures to address the network's reliance on digital signatures for ownership confirmation, transaction authorization, and overall security. Although current cryptographic schemes are secure at present, this proposal is designed to address the potential future risk of quantum computers forging schemes and compromising account security. If approved through governance review, Aptos will introduce SLH-DSA, which has been standardized as FIPS 205, as an optional account signature type, making it one of the first blockchains to natively support quantum-resistant accounts, with existing accounts remaining unaffected.
