Casa Co-founder: Quantum Computing Unlikely to Break Bitcoin in the Short Term, but Retrofitting the Bitcoin Network Could Take 5 to 10 Years
BlockBeats News, December 21st, Jameson Lopp, co-founder of Bitcoin custody company Casa, posted on social media, stating, "I have been publicly discussing the risk of quantum computing to Bitcoin for 18 months. My main conclusion is: I sincerely hope that the development of quantum computing can stall or even recede because transforming Bitcoin to adapt to the post-quantum era will be very challenging for many reasons."
"Quantum computers will not break the Bitcoin network in the short term. We will continue to monitor its development. However, a thorough transformation of the Bitcoin network (and unprecedented fund migration) may take 5 to 10 years. We should hold the best hope, but also prepare for the worst-case scenario."
