Two Japanese employees were robbed at knifepoint in Hong Kong while attempting to exchange 1 billion yen for cryptocurrency.
Foresight News reported, citing Hong Kong 01, that last week two Japanese company employees engaged in virtual currency and luxury goods businesses took a car to a virtual currency exchange shop in Sheung Wan, Hong Kong, planning to exchange 1 billion yen (approximately 50 million Hong Kong dollars) packed in four suitcases for virtual currency and Hong Kong dollars. However, they were robbed at knifepoint. Hong Kong police disclosed that 15 people have been arrested so far, with 7 of them charged with conspiracy to commit robbery. Authorities are currently tracking the whereabouts of the funds, and the investigation is ongoing, with more arrests not ruled out.
