What is Degis (DEG)?
Degis is a protection protocol built on Avalanche. Its goal is to create a universal crypto protection platform. It provides insurance mechanisms to protect users from cyber threats and security vulnerabilities in the DeFi and NFT markets. Degis is recognized for its innovative approach to insurance and received $3 million in angel and seed financing from Avalanche Asia Star Fund and the Blizzard Fund. The project was launched in 2022.
How Degis (DEG) Works
Degis offers two protection products:
- Options Market enables trading European-style options using on-chain data. Creators stake 1 USDC to mint protection tokens, serving as backed assets. Holders can claim a 1:1 payoff if the event occurs. Buyers hedge risks by purchasing protection tokens, while sellers profit by selling them. Liquidity providers contribute to the AMM pool, earning fees and DEG tokens. The market operates in time cycles, allowing for deposit, trading, and settlement periods.
- Protocol Protection allows users to buy and sell insurance for risks at the protocol level. Users can deposit USDC into the protection pool and receive Protection Pool LP tokens, representing their share in the pool. These tokens can be staked into priority pools for additional rewards. Underwriters take on higher risks by staking LP tokens in specific priority pools. Buyers pay premiums based on community-voted rates and receive compensation tokens. After a claim event, compensation is paid from the Protection Pool and priority pools, with LP tokens burned if necessary.
How Many Degis (DEG) Tokens Are in Circulation?
DEG is the native governance and utility token of the protocol. It has a total supply of 100,000,000 and 6,039,132 of them are in circulation.
